Glazing for Schüco Windows – with SEMCO

With SEMCO functional glass, we combine energy efficiency, comfort, and security: from highly efficient insulated glass to sound insulation to safety and solar control glass. All packages are configured on a project-by-project basis – including warm edge spacers.

Glass Solutions Overview

Thermal Insulation (Insulated Glass)

  • Multi-pane insulated glass with Low-E coating and noble gas filling provides very low U-values.
  • Double and triple glazing – suitable for new builds and renovations.
  • Optimizable with warm edge spacers to reduce edge zone thermal bridges.

Sound Insulation (SEMCO Phone)

  • Graduated glass constructions for different noise situations (road, rail, airport).
  • Noticeable reduction of external noise with appropriate glass structure.
  • Combinable with thermal and solar protection in one pane.

Safety Glass (ESG / VSG)

  • ESG (toughened safety glass) with increased impact resistance, breaks into small fragments.
  • VSG (laminated safety glass) with tear-resistant film: splinter binding & burglar resistance.
  • Burglar-resistant classes (e.g., P classification) depending on required RC level of the window.

Solar Control Glass

  • Special coatings reduce summer heat gain (g-value) while maintaining high daylight transmission.
  • Ideal for south-facing facades and large glass surfaces; combinable with thermal insulation.

Warm Edge

  • Thermally improved spacers minimize thermal bridges in the edge seal (better Psi values).
  • Less condensation tendency at the glass edge and harmonious edge appearance.

Privacy & Design

  • Frosted glass and ornamental glass for privacy with high light transmission.
  • Colored/design glass possible – coordinated with architecture and interior.

Important Planning Details

  • Uw values depend on the interplay of frame profile, glass (Ug), edge seal (Psi), and element size.
  • RC certifications always apply to the complete element (profile, hardware, glass, installation).
  • Sound insulation values (Rw) result from specific glass constructions – we select appropriate SEMCO Phone variants.
  • Solar control (g-value) and daylight should be considered together in the room concept.

Glazing FAQ

Double or triple glazing?

For high energy efficiency, triple is standard. In existing buildings, double can be sensible – depending on frame, shading, and budget. We calculate the optimal combination on a project-by-project basis.

Do I need safety glass (VSG/ESG)?

For floor-to-ceiling elements, door side panels, overhead glazing, or RC-tested elements, safety glass is usually required. For RC2/RC3, VSG to the appropriate P class is typically necessary.

How do I achieve good sound insulation?

Sound insulation results from glass construction, thickness differences, cavity space, and films. We select appropriate SEMCO Phone constructions for the noise situation and combine them with thermal/solar protection if needed.
